Hey! My name is Cecilia. I’m a freelance senior Art Director and multidisciplinary artist. Large ideas come out of my head with high frequency. For eight years I worked at Wieden + Kennedy Amsterdam, where I created award-winning global campaigns for clients like Samsung, Instagram, and many more. In 2023 I took a sabbatical and I cycled for 5500 km, and then rocked climbed a few mountains. Besides lots of ads, I made a short film that premiered at Tribeca Film Festival.
I take photos only when the sun is shining. I make collages when it’s raining. I used to paint in the streets of Amsterdam under the name of The Oogman. I adore rocks, and I try to climb them; it’s for me the perfect metaphor of life.

Join the flip side

Samsung global campaign calls on people to give into their fascination with innovation. The campaign plays with this struggle as its center around a dramatic film whose protagonist, Elena, is an everyday smartphone user who becomes mesmerised by the unique movement of her friend’s brand new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4. As she desperately tries to put it out of her mind, determined not to switch from her existing device, everything appears to take on the Flip’s unique form as the world folds and flips around her. The more she resists, the more extreme these visual reminders become, before finally she surrenders to the inevitable.

Grottaroli

Grottaroli is a short documentary produced & directed by Cecilia Pignocchi and Arthur Couvat which world premiered at Tribeca Film Festival in 2021.

Nestled among the cliffs of Italy’s Adriatic coast lies a series of man-made caves, carved over generations by a group of fishermen known as the ‘Grottaroli’.
Every morning a remaining handful of them, now in their seventies and eighties, descend steep paths to their caves to continue their craft. Down there, the sound of the waves becomes one with the ticking of time, as the last of the Grottaroli reflect on their love for the sea.
Director / Producer / Editor: Cecilia Pignocchi, Arthur Couvat

Tempo Bello

Tempo Bello (Good Weather) is an ongoing series that narrates the journey of redescovering my roots.

Despite being born by the sea, I always felt like a fish out of water in my hometown and, more broadly, in Italy. From my teenage years, I had a strong desire to leave. For many years, I turned my back on my roots in search of my personal identity, spending the last decade in Amsterdam, where the light and weather were drastically different. Each summer homecoming intensified my need to capture the vibrant colors that were no longer part of my daily life. By distancing myself from what I thought I knew, I unconsciously began a journey of rediscovering my origins. What was once mundane now appeared like a movie set. A film in which even my mother’s belly seemed so interesting to photograph. The visual language, spontaneous and ironic, arises from deeply rooted ideas like stereotypes and sexuality, merging with reality to create pop, nostalgic, and surreal images. Here, the “Good Weather” reigns supreme, with the sun illuminating the path to self-awareness. “Good Weather” is rooted in my DNA, and by subtracting my body from it, I inadvertently rediscovered my soul.

Living Frame

Living Frame is a dialogue with my mother to explore my complex relationship with being a woman. Through memory and visual apparitions, I investigate female identity. My mother’s intimate experience becomes the key to reimagining the way I see myself and other women. A tribute to my mother, and an act of reconciliation with my own identity.
